We get many calls in the summer where people say – "my A/C is not cooling as good as last year, come put Freon in it..." When we arrive at their homes, we find the outside A/C unit clogged with grass clippings, vines, or small trees.
1. To prevent this type of call – Switch off the 220 circuit breaker to the A/C unit and use a water hose to clean the coils. If your A/C has metal covers, you may need to remove them to clean the coils. This could involve removing the top and disconnecting the fan motor. You may want to call us if you are uncomfortable around wiring.
2. In the event of no cold air circulation. Check the 220 circuit breaker to determine if it is in the off or in the middle position. Push the circuit breaker to off position then to the on position. If it trips off immediately or on a continual basis, there is a problem that needs expert attention - call us immediately.
3. If you notice ice on the coils or water dripping around your A/C unit. Turn the system off at the thermostat. Check the filter; it should be changed every 30 days.
